Nissan Duster based SUV confirmed
Renault Duster is the best selling model for Renault in India.Renault-Nissan partnership in India saw that Renault sharing both Sunny and Micra.But in the Duster SUV it is the other way around.Nissan will share the Duster SUV.Nissan Duster based SUV is codenamed as NH79.Nissan Duster is the first Dacia product in India to get Nissan badge.Colin Dodge Nissan Executive vice president said to Autocar India that “We’ve got quite a differentiated car and the differences are far more significant than on the V-platform products (Micra/Pulse and Sunny/Scala). The hood and the fenders have differences and the bumpers are different too. But it’s more than just a bumpers and grille change for sure,”
Nissan will make some changes for Duster to look different.But mechanically both the products is same.This will help to reduce the cost for both companies.Nissan Based Duster will be powered by the same engines.Nissan based Duster will be price lower than the Renault Duster.Nissan is more value for money and Renault is the more premium brand.This will help Nissan to sell more Duster.Nissan based Duster will be launched in 2013.
But Renault might push the launch even further.Because Nissan had already established their brand But Renault is slowly making the brand image in India.If the Nissan Duster comes early then all the Buzz around Renault Duster might drop.So we could see the launch in 2014.Then Nissan Duster has strong competitors from most of the brands.All most all the brand is developing compact SUVs.
