BMW 1 Series Launch in September

BMW is currently the number one luxury car maker in India. BMW is defending the number crown through introducing various new models. Most important launch for BMW in 2013 is the 1 series hatch back. BMW has already announced that 1 series will come to India. Now the BMW India president Mr. Philipp Von Sahr has confirmed that 1 series hatch back will be launched in September. He has also pointed out that the 1 series hatch back will be assembled at the Chennai Plant. Now BMW is assembling most of the cars in its portfolio in the Chennai Plant. Recently Mini models have also started assembling in India. Government has increased the duties on CBU vehicles. So Assembling the models in India will give them price advantage over its rivals.

BMW hasn’t given any details about the engine line up for 1 series in India. Globally 1 series comes with a wide variety of engine options both Petrol and Diesel. Also in Manual or Automatic transmission. Can we expect BMW to launch 1 series in a manual transmission. There is possibilities for the manual transmission which will make the 1 series a little cheaper. Biggest Competitor for 1 series in India is Mercedes Benz A Class. Mercedes will launch the A Class next month. if competition hot up we are sure that Audi will bring the A3 hatch back to India. Luxury Hatch back war will decide who will get the number one position in our Luxury car market.
